The WEBJOU Project is on a mission to spark innovation in teaching and learning across the Western Balkans. Combining expertise from data science, statistics, visualization, and storytelling, WEBJOU aims at equipping both students and educators with essential skills in data journalism and data communication.
The project aims to define core competencies in data journalism and communication within the Western Balkan higher education system, developing a comprehensive profile tailored to the region. It includes the creation of six modular courses that cover topics such as Big Data, Data Visualization, Statistical Analysis, Geospatial Tools, Storytelling, and GDPR compliance, all recognized with ECTS credits.
Additionally, WEBJOU will launch seven bachelor’s programs in data journalism customized for the Albanian and Kosovar educational context. Through an open-access online platform, all resources and materials will be freely available, fostering accessible, high-quality education in data journalism across the Balkans.
